Energy crops are inexpensive plants grown to generate electricity by burning. One of the energy crops is Miscanthus giganteus, known for its high calorific value. This project showcase Miscanthus on an area of 300 m2 in the NU renewable energy test area. Further increases in energy intensity will be achieved through the use of a special pelletizer and the end product will be biofuels with the ability to reduce CO2 emissions.
